Community Re: Investment Day in South Tucson
Public Art Murals have always been powerful tools to educate, inform and bring community members together. The mural, in collaboration with Sunnyside Foundation and led by South Tucson artist and owner of Galeria Mitotera, Melo “Mel” Dominguez will display COVID-19 awareness and support. Another local artist, Sal Sawaki from Wagon Burner Arts, in collaboration with the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona will create a crosswalk mural on the street asphalt that will display the moon phases and other cultural elements. This crosswalk mural will give the South Tucson street a much needed colorful makeup, bring people together, showcase community pride, and promote street safety. We hope these murals will serve as a space for gathering, reflection, healing and an accessible way to experience local art and community.
